Sunken Treasure- For this first level, we need to find all five star pieces to make the launch star, which by the way are all located underwater. To get into the water, simply press Z once floating. The first piece is below the second half of the wooden walkway, the second is in a box near the first star piece. The third is in a clam opposite of where you started, the fourth is in a bubble near the large penguin, and the fifth is located in a bubble near the giant eel. Take the new launch star to the next part of the planet. Follow the path down to the switch, but here’s a cheat before you ground pound it. If you are good at this, then you can perform a back flip and then a spin to reach the higher land without having to take the bridge. If you are taking the bridge, make sure to not go through the water, or you probably won’t make it. Either do another back flip to get to the next level or wall jump, and when you get to the top bust the crystal to get the Star.

Passing the Swim Test- Speak with the large penguin to get this started. You need to find and bring the golden shell back to him. Jump into the water, and look for some penguins in a line, the one in front has the golden shell. To take it from him, swim close and perform a spin attack. Now ride the shell back to the coach and get you’re Power Star.

The Secret Undersea Cavern- Head into the water, and take any of the shells lying around and throw it at the cracked wall underneath the waterfall. This will reveal a secret cavern, hence the name.. Head over to the fence, and bash the boxes with a spin attack to get to the other side. Pound the switch here and take the Launch Star to a strange planet. This place is home to several Thwomps, boxes, disappearing platforms, a stream of water and two black holes. To get through it, follow the path under the first Thwomp, and stop of the first “tiled” platform that you reach. Wait for the box to come back, and let him land on you, then when he goes back run forward. My advice is to try and cross this only when the large parts come by, or you can do it another way if you want. When on the last pin platform, ride it to a small staircase. Head left and dodge the enemy like last time, then run up the ramp. For the rest of the level you need to do as you have been doing before. If you have not encountered a green platform left, be warned that it will start to disappear as soon as you step on it. At the final green platform, head under one more Thwomp and get the Star.

Fast Foes on the Cyclone Stone- The only difference for this level is that the enemies move faster. Just remember to get under the boxes for protection, and not to rush it, because then you will make mistakes. If you need help with the level, refer back to The Secret Undersea Cavern for more help.

Beach combing for Purple Coins- Another purple coin level that only has 100 coins in it. So let’s start off by going around the water surface and getting all of the coins on the platforms and mini islands. Also check the tree to the right of where you began. Jump on top of the instructor’s head for 25th. Now go back to the beginning and jump onto the vine on the tree. Use the vine to circle around and grab the next 23 coins. The next 5 can be found in a circle around a stone near the brown reef underwater. There are a few more to the left of the beginning, and one hidden behind the waterfall, do a back flip and then a spin to get it. Look for another 8 coins next to the waterfall top on the stone platforms, wooden platform and in the waterfall head. Also make sure to go on the swing on the right side tree, and trust me, when you are trying to reach the brown platform, you barely need to be swinging to reach it, so don’t overshoot it. Before you go to the higher platforms you should have 81 coins.

Use the spring Mario to get onto the higher areas, and follow the path around to find all of the coins. Remember to keep spring Mario and try not to go into the water, because then he will disappear and he is needed to get to the higher levels. There are three coins above the grayish rock near the water in case you can’t find one. And just to warn you, there are no coins on the tree that hangs of the side of the island. Go back to the instructor once you have all 100 coins to get the Star.

Wall Jumping Up Waterfalls- This secret star is very easy to miss, so grab a shell from the ocean, take it up the ledge right of the waterfall to find a treasure chest. Throw the shell at the chest with a spin attack, then take the Launch Star to the next planet. You’ll land near a coin that is too high to reach by a normal jump, so head around the island and lure one of the blue enemies back, then jump on him to reach it. It will turn into an Ice Mario flower. Once Mario is Iceman, run across the water to the two middle waterfalls, then wall jump them to reach a sling shot star. Wall jump up the next two, then bounce off the next one to reach the last sling shot star. Turn Mario into Iceman again, and then lure another enemy to the other side of the island. Jump on him to reach the Power Star.
