III. Fire-Wind Interlude
Return to Mercay Island and enter the Temple of the Ocean King once again.
-Temple of the Ocean King-
~CUT SCENE~
Thanks for the tip Lineback, I thought I was going to let myself get killed. >.> Anyways, do as the old man says and grab the one and only, PHANTOM HOURGLASS!
~CUT SCENE~
So enter the bottom door below as they instruct and you'll notice some that a timer will appear in the upper left hand corner of your upper screen. But wait, why isn't it going down? Well you're in a safe zone and the timer doesn't go done in a safe zone. Make sure you monitor you time as the red fairy will explain. If you do run out of time, for future reference, then you will be affected by the poison mist stuff like you were when you first entered this temple. Unless you purposely waste time, you should be fine for now. Touch the door of power and go down the stairs.
Now for the fun part. Walk out into the mist, and phantoms will appear! The fairies will explain that if a phantom sees you, run to a safe zone! Yeah, so bsasically what that means if you're seen in their little yellow vision area on the upper screen, RUN FOR IT! If you get hit (and its really hard on this first one) then you lose time in your hourglass. So, go to the top right where you see a locked door, hit the switch next to it. A timer will sound, hurry up and go down to the tourches (intersection in the bottom middle) and use your boomerang to light both of them. Keep an eye on the phantoms at all times.
Once both are lit, the fire will go down. Hide in the safe zones and let the phantom pass you to get on the other side. Grab the key by hitting the switch to the right next to the rocks (which you can blow up with bombs later on). As a future note, the red pots are like makeshift safe zones: anywhere you break them, they create a nice little safe zone until you leave the room. You can use them to bypass more difficult puzzles later on. Use the key on the door and ta da, it opens. This is really hard, huh?
Next room has 2 phantoms too. You'll notice the one closest to the entrance doesn't move around, just looks around. Hit a switch on the indent below and the phantom will hear. Run around and pull the lever he was guarding which lowers the fire. There is also a switch you should hit to the left of the lever (a key appears). A good idea would be to run back to the safe zone and wait for him to reset his position. Continue down the corridor until you see more fire and also a switch. Hit the switch with the boomerang. The red pots are useful here. Continue down until you come to a switch. Stand on it and get the key with the boomerang. Use the blue, red switch thing to get to the locked door faster.
Next room has again, 2 phantoms. There is a red pot to your left so carry it around until you need it. A good idea would be to get behind the key baring phantom within a red pot safe area and use the boomerang to knock his key off and grab it for yourself. So go down to the bottom right corner and open the chest. You'll get a force gem! Great, what does it do? Carry the thing to the big safe zone north west of you. You can throw it infront of you and pick it up to move faster (useful in multiplayer as well). Careful, don't let the phantoms see you or the area will be blocked by fire. Once you get there, click one of the yellow Tri-Force pieces. Only 2 more. Go off the ledge to your left and you'll see a yellow jar. This gives you more sand in your hourglass so get it if you need it. Open the next chest to the left and do the same as above. The last one is located in the bottom left portion of the screen and is behind a locked door in which you need that key for. You know the routine by now. Put all three in and the door will open!
Head west and open the chest above. The northwestern part of the map is cleared, hooray! Now enter the blue portal and leave this place until next time. Head to the port and talk to Lineback (don't get light-headed when blowing into the mic). Time to go to Canon Island. Cannon Island is the only island you've haven't been to on the east part of this quadrent (its southwest of your current location).
-Cannon Island-
Fist off, go into the house and talk to the man. He says that he'll open the gate so you can see the master. Who makes a gate so you have to walk around the whole island to get to the other door? I don't know. I would just jump over it, but I guess we don't have Roc's Feather in this game. Go through the gate and the rest is pretty self explanatory. Watch out for bees though; the spin attack works well on them. Before you go southwest, go to your east and open the chest for a nice Treaure Map.
Next go down the path until you come to a cave. Enter said cave. FYI, you're suppossed to be taking notes on the island since it doesn't have any details, but since you never are going to come back here, its a waste of time. Now in the cave you'll see some rats and some bombs. Kill the rats and pick the bombs up (tap) and throw it at the boulder things that block the pathway. Yay they blew up. Get another bomb so you can break open the crack in the wall down the path which has a Power Gem.
Now get another bomb from before and throw it over the fence at the block blocking the steel block's path. It blows up too. Push the block so you can enter. Now for the first slightly-hard puzzle. Pull the next steel block down so it is out of the way of the next one blocking your pathway. Pull the next one back 1 and up 1 so it is out of your way. Go back, get a bomb and blow up the block. Up the stairs you go.
Kill the rats outside but, don't hit the bombs or they blow up and hurt you. Blow the blocks with the bombs and there is a red Rupee to your southwest. Follow the path, blowing up blocks as you need to until you come to a ledge with bomb flowers around. First jump off the cliff and kill the red ChuChus. Then break the rocks until you come to a fence with blocks to blow up on the other side. That is where you are going with a bomb from up there. Go back around, grab a bomb flower (from the one closest to the area I just showed you) and run to the place and throw it over the fence. You may have to do it 2 times if you only destroy 1. Now walk around to the other side of the fence and go into the house (DON'T FALL OFF THE EDGE OR YOU HAVE TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN).
Talk to the guy that looks like a rat. Buy the cannon from him and it'll be instantly added to your ship. Hooray! Exit the building through the door I wish we could've just used to get in and outside you'll the mailbox having a seizure. Some strange winged person comes and reads some nonsense to you. Don't worry, I didn't read it either, although he does say/give some good stuff later. Sign the thing and have a nice day. Time to leave.
-The Great Sea-
Wow, we may actually spend time here for once. Ok, for the cannon, just click where you want to fire and it blows things up. It is as simple as that. You never have to buy bombs or anything. You'll see a sea trap so blow the crap out of the sides and be on your way. You can jump over it, but that just isn't nearly as statisfying. If you see a Gold Frog, that is for later. Now head to the northwest portion of the map (just head northwest on this portion). Make sure you go up on the OTHER side of the rocks. A tornado will blow you away if you try going up the side you're on now. Blow up enemies if they appear and avoid other bad things like rocks.
Yawn, so as you wait, you can try to blow the sea gulls. Oh yeah, blow up the rocks that are in the way of the opening that appears on your map (are brown). Once you're to the other side you see the feared something.
Yeah, like that was a hard spoiler to figure out. Follow the Ghost Ship into the northwester portion. Shoot at it all you want, but its protected by its ghostly powers. Some fog will appear and some creepy music will start to play. Follow the Ghost Ship until you somehow return back where you started. Drat it all, now go back to the southwest portion and onto the only island you haven't been to, Molida Island.
-Molida Island-
Another letter awaits, so go to the mailbox. Follow the path to the eastern most house and talk to the man inside. Pretend to leave the house and he'll yell at you. Go back and talk to him again. What he says is actually mildly important, so read. Time to enter the next cave.
Kill the enemies, and make sure you kill the Keeses with a boomerang before atempting to jump over those gaps (they will knock you off). Next go toward the door, but OH NO, A GIANT TROLL GUY! Yeah, just hit him with the boomerang from behind, he'll get dizzy, so slice him to pieces. This shouldn't be too hard unless you're trying to write a walkthrough at the same time. Follow the opened path and kill the enemies until you come to a crack in the wall (Keeses nearby). Blow the crack up with a bomb flower. Read the book which I'll explain later. Open the chest and you got the all powerful SHOVEL! You'll see a different colored square near you so, dig it and you get a big green Rupee (100 Rupees). Go back to the fight scene and do the same if you want another one of these gems. Blow up the blocks for later and head up the stairs.
There is something in a chest to the west (tis random). Continue east and mark where those stone tablets are (mark tablet no. 3 with a 3 and no. 4 with a 4). Now jump of the ledge and find the other 2 tablets which are around town. No. 1 is near the harbour, and the other is next a women with a yellow shirt. Draw a line between 1 and 4, and then also 2 and 3 (creates a cross). Dig a hole where they two lines intersect (it should be right under a palm tree). Jump in the hole.
Get the treasure map and read the book. Then look at the map on the wall which is next to the chest. You see the path you have to take to pass that fog from before. Copy the route onto your map. Head west and you'll come to a sun door. You can't open it now, but it is important later on in the game (much later). Jump off the ledge and you should be familar with the rest of the cave.
-The Great Sea-
So, now that you know what to do, simiply trace the path you drew on your map once you're in Northwestern part of the map. Once you made it through, go to the Isle of Gust.
